Where: University of Missouri - Kansas City
When: February 22-23, 2013
Theme: TBA
The medievalist community at UMKC, which is hosting the annual MAMA conference February 22-23, 2013, will be using this opportunity
to present a conference in celebration of the work, friendship, and mentoring of Shona Kelly Wray, our beloved colleague whose most
unexpected and untimely death has shaken us all. Linda Mitchell is president/program chair this year. We will send out information
on the conference as it gets organized, and a call for papers will be sent out in early autumn.
Shona's contributions to the UMKC community, to MAMA, and to the communities of medieval feminist scholarship, Italian history,
and medical history were extensive, creative, and innovative. She was a brilliant mentor to her students and one of the best colleagues
anyone could ever hope to have. Shona's presence at UMKC will always be felt; she will be missed terribly by all of us. We hope you
can join us in honoring Shona and celebrating the ways she touched all of us.
Location
The University of Missouri-Kansas City is ideally situated for the study of the rich selection of historic sites
in western Missouri and eastern Kansas. Located in the heart of Kansas City, the UMKC campus is a walk or a short
drive from the Country Club Plaza, the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art and Historic Westport.
